Women's Health

MISSION

It is the mission of the department to deliver innovative and compassionate patient care, applying scientific findings and the latest technology to improve the health of female patients, training physicians, and providing a community service. Research and the setting of standards of care to improve overall health of women countrywide are integral parts of the department’s mission.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the care of women during pregnancy and delivery, as well as the diseases of the female genital tract including endocrinology and reproductive physiology. Obstetrics and gynecology sub-specializes in two distinct disciplines: General obstetrics and gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine.

General Obstetrics and Gynecology

Offers women comprehensive screenings and full diagnostic therapeutic services. Specific obstetrics and gynecological services offered include periodic gynecological screenings such as PAP smear, breast examination, mammography, medical and surgical treatment of various gynecological disorders, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such ashysteroscopy and laparoscopy, uro-gynecological assessments/surgical intervention, birth control, family planning, and menopausal evaluation and treatment. The department’s early cervical cancer detection capability and treatment (in case of abnormal PAP smear) includes comprehensive colposcopy, which allows the physician examination of the cervix with magnifying instruments to visibly ascertain the nature of the abnormal growth.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Offers women presenting with complex medical or historical obstetrical complications a full treatment program by the department’s Antenatal Diagnostic Center. Antenatal diagnosis and care includes genetic counseling, fetal assessment, and surveillance, non-invasive/invasive diagnostic modalities, advanced 3 and 4 dimensional ultrasound modalities, and intrauterine interventional procedures such as amniocentesis.

Center for Assisted Reproduction

Provides assistance to women wanting to become pregnant and are experiencing difficulties with conception. Some methods include: in-vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, intrauterine, insemination, cycle monitoring and induction of ovulation, advanced gynecologic endoscopic surgery, gynecologic endocrinology assessment and treatment, in-vitro maturation and pre-implant genetic diagnosis. Comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalities covering all abnormal female endocrine disorders. Irregular menstrual cycles and excessive hair growth are some of the conditions treated in the center.

FUTURE SERVICES

A Women’s Health Program is being planned to offer a unique service to women with no medical problems. The service will offer:
General health and gynecological screenings.

  • Dietary services.
  • Breast care.
  • Bone density studies.

Expansion of Genetic Services
