From Montreal to Al-Khobar:

Dr. Sultan Al-Temyatt, Section Head for General Surgery at Saad Specialist Hospital, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia confirmed that his medical team had successfully conducted gastric bypass surgery on a Canadian patient suffering from obesity, reducing the size of her stomach to less than 10% of its normal capacity.

Obesity is a problem that faces a large number of individuals all over the world. Researchers recently showed that 20% of the Saudi Arabian population suffers from being overweight, with a large percentage of those being classed as obese - a problem that diets alone often cannot resolve and can lead sufferers to seek surgical intervention.

Such was the case with this particular patient from Montreal in Canada. The patient completed a diet in order to reduce her weight and lost 20 kg, but her weight soon increased again, this time gaining 30 kg.  That’s when she decided to elect for surgery to reduce her weight, which had begun to endanger her life. The patient went further by stating that  obesity caused her several psychological problems as well as life-threatening conditions, such as a high blood pressure and an extremely high cholesterol level.
